For this post, I chose to breakdown one of my favorite books from Darren Hardy, "The Compound Effect." In this example, I will go over the key points of emphasis from my perspective followed by some goals of mine as I reflect back on 2024 and updates to those goals for 2025.

There is power in small, consistent, daily choices:

Small, positive choices made consistently over time lead to significant results. Conversely, small negative habits can compound into big problems.

This leads me into The Ripple Effect of Choices:

Every choice you make shapes your destiny. By being intentional with daily decisions, you create a ripple effect that influences your outcomes.

Habits Are the Foundation:

With the new year approaching this could be a good place to start. Identify your habits, both good and bad, and work to replace harmful habits with productive ones through consistent effort.

Tracking Progress:

This is often a major part that is overlooked. Regularly track your behaviors and actions to stay accountable and measure progress. Monitoring creates awareness and fosters better decision-making. Create KPIs for yourself and figure out a time to reflect on these every week.

The Momentum Principle:

Start now! Do not wait until a certain date. Building momentum through consistent effort makes achieving goals easier over time. Taking one step in the right direction is better than staying on the wrong path.

The Role of Discipline:

Success requires self-discipline and the willingness to push through discomfort. Motivation fades, but discipline sustains results. Embrace discomfort. There is no growth in comfortability.

The Influence of Environment and Relationships:

Surround yourself with people and environments that align with your goals. Negative influences can sabotage your efforts, while positive ones inspire growth. You are the average of the five people you spend the most time around.

The Magic of Time:

Patience is crucial to allow compounding to take effect. Immediate results are not the goal. Stay consistent and allow yourself time to grow. Build your foundation brick by brick so ultimately what you build is unbreakable.

Goals and Vision:

Define clear, measurable goals and align your daily choices with those objectives. A compelling vision keeps you motivated. What is your why? Take your goal and work backwards to plan out what it would take on a yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, and even hourly basis to move the needle towards that goal.

Last year, I created a vision board with my daughter that outlined a lot of my goals for the next ten years on a very broad level. One of my biggest accomplishments for this year was reading the entire bible cover to cover, old and new testament. This allowed me to get in tune with my spiritual frame, which in turn revealed to me my purpose in life. One of the most important aspects of this entire journey is learning yourself and determining your purpose. Before you do anything, start with your spiritual, mental, physical, and sexual health. Feed these things and the rest will fall in place so much easier.

This year my biggest goals will be exemplifying discipline on a level I have never achieved. As I look back on all of my goals for last year, I can make an honest assessment. Analyzing the results, even though this was the best year of my life spiritually, mentally, financially, and physically; I could have accomplished double if I was more disciplined. This realization gives me the ultimate confidence to appreciate where I am in my journey, but know that I am capable of more if I hold myself more accountable.
